Our Service

We are an independent charity offering advice and information on any subject, including welfare benefits, employment, consumer problems, housing issues, relationship problems, debt and legal matters.

We are a member of Citizens Advice, a national charity.

Our offices have been serving the community in and around Central Dorset for over 40 years. We have both paid staff and volunteers who can give advice over the telephone, face to face in the offices, by home visit or at one of our outreaches.

All advice is provided by fully trained advisers and we can advise on a full range of issues and problems.

Our funding comes from a mixture of local authority and other sources of funding such as

  • The Lottery
  • Wessex Water
  • Macmillan
  • MS Society
  • Money and Pensions Service (MaPS)
  • Individual donations from our supporters

No matter where our funding comes from we always remain fully independent and impartial.

Our services are free, confidential, independent and impartial and are offered to everyone regardless of race, gender, sexuality, religion or disability.

Contact details and opening times for our offices and outreaches can be found on the Dorchester , North Dorset , Sherborne and Weymouth & Portland contact pages.

Supplementing our advice services, the answers to many frequently asked questions can be found on the National Citizens Advice Website, a national website service giving basic advice and information on your rights online, 24 hours a day. You can also access Self-help Guides which deal with the matters most frequently encountered by our clients.
